WISDOM
WISDOM has been defined as the ability to think and act using knowledge, experience, understanding, common sense, and insight. WISDOM has also been defined as the soundness of JUDGMENT. Either way WISDOM goes beyond KNOWLEDGE and involves action (or the sound judgment to not act)
We made it from GOOD to GREAT, but GREAT is not enough – let’s be EXCEPTIONAL.
As we move from INFORMATION to KNOWLEDGE, what is EXCEPTIONAL KNOWLEDGE – is that reaching WISDOM?
What does reaching WISDOM look like?
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” ― Socrates
We could criticize information to the extreme – do we ever really know for sure? But I think this is more about reminding us to always keep an open mind and always be skeptical.
How is WISDOM shared?
“Wisdom cannot be imparted. Wisdom that a wise man attempts to impart always sounds like foolishness to someone else ... Knowledge can be communicated, but not wisdom. One can find it, live it, do wonders through it, but one cannot communicate and teach it.” ― Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha
If one can’t give WISDOM, then you can’t receive it, but how do you get it?
“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.” ― Confucius
