Wisdom and ageing - do they go hand in hand?

Every year at this time, I start to reflect on my personal growth and maturity once more, because it will soon be my birthday – and somehow this anniversary day always makes me wonder, 'do natural ageing and wisdom go hand in hand?'
Oscar Wilde famously said “With age comes wisdom, but sometimes age comes alone”.
Hopefully not for me!
I love the concept of being respected for being ‘a wise counsel’, and those who know me appreciate my desire to demonstrate wisdom as often as I can.
I would love to think me becoming more wise was simply a natural feature of the days ticking by and of me moving into a new 'number-year'…. but I think there is probably a little more to it than that.
Just now, I am meeting up with more people than ever in a bid to learn about my new chosen career field, and those connections have so far proved to be wonderful experiences, with every single one having left me astounded at what I have learned from someone I had previously not even known.
The rich experiences of others’ lives, their career journeys, highs and lows, have all been shared openly with me and with incredible, positive intent – so that I may learn from them, and make best use of my opportunities for the future.?
So I guess I have answered my own question…. I think learning from others is the way to greater wisdom…?What do you think? Comments welcomed.

2 年Wise words. I definitely think that becoming more open and listening more has helped me to learn. That’s something I’ve learned to do as I age, and there’s so much more to learn out there.
