Great ideas for discussion; working in LTC, gives me a very different perspective. I see that how social change has not been great for Seniors. I remember as a child visiting Both grandparents once a month on the farm. Spent all my holidays on the farm. Now Seniors are put in LTC and are fortunate if Adult children visit once a week and if there is only one adult child what a burden!!! If no children decline of capacity is worse. HCA'S and LPNS are not able to spend quality time with all care patients. Recreational activities are maybe 2 hours a day if they have staff. Life is not the same, grandchildren are not exposed to the elderly as they once were.... It makes me sad to see the heartache from both perspectives.
