Wisdom 31:24 Building a House
I didn't have to travel far into Proverbs 24 before a couple of verses made my heart sing! Check out verses 3 and 4.
By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
Given that I'm deeply involved with networks of property professionals, this tickled me. I cannot remember a single event we've hosted where wisdom was on the schedule of works for building, refurbishing, or converting a property! In the banner header image today, you'll see an image of a house that I think is truly 'beautiful'.
This is 'Black Pug Books' in Wimborne, Dorset. Shameless plug? No shame at all. I love bookshops and there is rarer magic in a secondhand bookshop. This one, however, has a personality all of its own... or should I say 'personalities'? Victoria, the owner, is enchanting and her enchantments have drawn to her a cast of characters, each with a gem like quality. It's more than a bookshop, it's a place to dive into the experiences of the wise and curious who visit... or even haunt the shop!
The power of these verses is clear: wisdom is the foundation, the driving force, the architect, the builder, the furnisher, the interior designer, and the art collector.
With wisdom and what Proverbs calls 'righteousness' - recovery is possible from whatever life slings and arrows of outrageous fortune can throw at us.
Here's verse 16
...for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.
Do you desire a future and a hope, mixed with some honey?
Let's close today's thoughts with verses 13 and 14
Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
I'm up for some future hope and a hopeful future, aren't you?
