The Wire Redux
I’ve written 10 posts on LinkedIn over the past month, so I thought it would be a good time to share what I’ve learned in my very short-lived writing career.?
Who reads long-form narrative writing? It’s a small but mighty list. We've got venture partners from both coasts, founders, CEOs, board members and politicos.
And even if you're not subscribed, I know you're reading.

I ruffled a lot of feathers with my least read article. I was the talk of the very small town at The Asian American Foundation Summit over my critique of men and the stumbling blocks of our movement. This article is an inside look into a meeting of insiders. And the empire(s) struck back.

I critique our social media habits and question who social media platforms are giving voice to. The rich, the power, the influential are getting more air time but does this just reinforce structural inequity?

I wasn’t planning to post anything but saw this post by Jackie Wong about the origins of our personal names and felt inspired to share this photo of my mom being my mom.?
“I’d like to celebrate the beautiful, textured experiences we’ve created out of the most painful moments in history.”

This is the post that kicked off the concept of The Wire. But I put too much in the post copy, so people didn’t click through to read the full article and all the drama is in the back half.?
6. Asian Americans in SF are pushing politics back to a more moderate middle

This WSJ post gets 4.2k impressions and I question if I’m approaching this all wrong. Maybe I can just source really good, high-quality journalism instead of spending hours writing? I also wonder about the journalistic choice to use “Chinese-Americans” vs. “Asian Americans” as the views in the article represent the broader Asian American Pacific Islander community.

I’m most proud of this post, a conversation with SF Mayoral Candidate #2. It’s exactly what I want to do and what I want to be doing - giving everyone an inside view of how politics works and our ability to impact the important systems around us if we show up and start asking smart questions.?

This is a look into Evan Low’s congressional race and our continued underinvestment in leaders who can represent our POVs on the biggest stages of government. In the last 3 weeks of the campaign, Justin, Natalie and I wrote and sent tens of thousands of emails on Evan’s behalf and I 100% believe if we didn’t, Evan would not have qualified for the Fall election by 5 votes.

Your reaction to this post renews my hope in humanity. Unlike the other posts, it’s just a simple, earnest conversation with my former intern Ishil P. about how much money we need to be happy and how to balance life, work and purpose.

I unveil the project that I’ve been previewing in every post, and you’re interested. This post goes off social and gets forwarded around via email, which is why reads are disproportionate to impressions. It’s the most important post of everything I’ve written so if you haven’t read this, please do. People complain (mostly offline) about my use of the term “carpet-bombing” but I think the war analogy is apt and I know that if the title was something generic like “help save democracy,” it would have never captured the interest. That’s called marketing, people.

This is a conversation with my best friend from college, Kevin Chou who is a famous Silicon Valley founder and the guy who donated $25M to Haas to build Chou Hall. We’re talking about all the big questions in life and that hits home for a lot of you. What is the matrix and how do we unplug?
I hijack Kevin's name to raise interest in Asian American civil rights and I do it referencing my favorite movie, The Matrix, and why the themes in the movie are prescient and universal.
The only CSM coach who ACTUALLY IS A CSM (not retired) ? I help underpaid and laid off CSM's get Customer Success Jobs WITHOUT networking via my F.I.R.E framework ?? ? $9.6M in Salaries ? 96 success stories ?? Proof ??
