Winter-Spring 2022 Publisher's Letter
It is with great pleasure that I extend my gratitude to all AEC industry professionals for helping to develop Colorado Construction & Design (CCD) magazine into the award winning publication it is today. It has been an absolute delight to work with all of you during my time as Associate Publisher/Editor for the past six years. Now, as President of CCD, I am able to truly focus on the dedicated and hard working individuals behind the success of every business and completion of every project. Together we can brag into the sunset about your career accomplishments and awards won, construction industry project challenges that you overcame, architectural innovations and engineering feats, and even share new connections we made at industry events.
Every day, we may be challenged on the job and at home for one reason or another but it's our perseverance, teamwork, and inspiration from others that provides us with the fuel we need to never give up. During the month of March, AGC Colorado and Colorado Contractors Association honored hundreds of women as 2022 Waymakers. As you may know, Waymakers are the women in construction who "stand out and go the extra mile to empower, inspire, and pave the way for others in the workplace." During this time, I reflected on not just every woman that has helped me throughout my career and life but everyone who played a part in helping me to be where I am today. The best way we can honor the Waymakers in our own lives is to follow their lead while taking every opportunity to empower and inspire others, now and long into the future.
Inspiration to live a better life or go beyond our comfort zone can be found in many forms. A perfect example of this can be seen by going "Inside the Canyon" of what will be one of the most iconic structures currently being built in Denver, The One River North project. Kevin Ratner, co-founder of The Max Collaborative stated, "The nature inspired design by MAD Architects was influenced by Colorado's legendary landforms and merges nature and architecture to inspire a well-balanced life." Intrigued? Read more about the One River North project starting on page 36 of the Winter-Spring 2022 issue of CCD.
