Winter Solstice 2022
Today is the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, the first day of winter and the longest night of the year. I used to not pay much attention to solstices and such, but now I'm paying more attention to the rhythms of life.
And it's so much more enjoyable!
I drove 45 minutes down two-lane rural roads this evening to Hillsborough, NC, to attend the Winter Solstice Lantern Walk. Homemade lantern by my side, I marveled at how lucky I am to live in the country, to drive curvy roads with hills and trees.
The light will now return, little by little.
It's a beautiful metaphor for the light we all have within. When we follow it, the light returns to our lives - often after experiencing a dark night of the soul.
In the depth of winter
I finally learned
that within me,
there lay an
invincible summer.

The journey within is so fruitful; light begets light. We learn to trust the light, have faith in the light...and together, trust and faith work together to activate our intuition.
May you learn to trust your light.
