Winter Self~Care

A great way to stay healthy and avoid Winter chill is by doing a pleasant and nurturing daily massage on yourself. Not only will your face and body skin reap the benefits, additionally your mood will stabilize and improve by feelings of comfort and centering achieved when you take good care of yourself.

This traditional Ayurvedic Massage (Abhyanga) is helpful for relieving tension and depression, energizes, stimulates lymph flow and promotes circulation for your outer body as well as your internal organs which helps with removal of toxins--resulting in your entire body feeling renewed and invigorated.

You will also experience a deep restful sleep especially if you follow this program in the evening.

Begin with a light dry brushing to gently exfoliate your skin with long, gentle strokes beginng with the tops of your feet, up your legs, around your abdomen, then chest, leading always towards your heart, and then massage your body in a specific order beginning with your head which will also nourish your hair and scalp**

Be sure to use gently warmed Organic plant oils like the traditionally recommended Sesame Oil. Also very nourishing are Avocado or Rosehip Oils, and I recommend Apricot or Jojoba oils for a lighter feel.

Always add a small amount of Jojoba oil to any recipe to both blend and help the other oils penetrate better into the skin.

Then bathe or shower in comfortably warm (not hot) water without using soap so you don't remove all the oil. Best recommended to shampoo and condition your hair first.
