The Winter Pipeline

Are you booked up until at least February 2023? If not, you need to act now, don’t bury your head in the sand and think that the phone will start ringing in the New Year.

The economic climate, energy prices, war, and the fact that the pound has reached such a low level against both the dollar and the Euro can be demoralising. If you let this affect your mindset, if you’re feeling negative, you’re not going to be prepared for 2023 and your order book will suffer. If you are positive and proactive, and you have a targeted marketing strategy, you will be best placed to take advantage of the current situation.

It may well be that your competitors are feeling negative and waiting to see what happens. If this is the case, you need to be going forward to take advantage of their negative mindset and while they are putting on the brakes!

To be prepared, you need to gain higher value projects. There will always be work out there, and there will always be people who are financially isolated from the current economic situation. These ones will be thinking about getting builders in during January and February. You need to present yourself in the right way to these potential clients, and you need to ensure that your prices take account of material shortages and market volatility. You also need to know where to find project architects and main contractors, and most importantly, you need to know how to ‘close’ the sale.
