Winter is coming

Winter is coming And the worst thing we can do right now is denial. Second biggest concern right now (after health, of course) is economy. And I am not talking about numbers and statistics. I am talking about the real impact on everyone's lives. Some people started to lose work already. Many more will follow. Many companies will fall. World after the virus will be different that the one before. I hope that later on some things will get better. But let's be real. Transition into unknown will not be easy. The sooner we'll accept this, the better.

One very important thing right now, in my opinion, is to start preparing for problems. Knowledge is game changer. Many of us have more free time right now. Even if it's not obvious, because we are trying to adjust to new reality of working at home and social isolation. It is good to stay sane. Good to relax watching films or reading a book. Panic is a bad thing. But denial is worse. We should start preparing. We should start learning. You have nothing to lose and so much to win. Let's say that you will (but let's hope not!) lose a job. The more skills you'll have, the faster you will find a new opportunity. Even if you'll keep your job - with every skill there is more chance for promotion. Let's say you are self-employed. Gaining new skill will broaden your horizons and give you more tools to develop your business or product. Or maybe to start something new?

We should use this extra time at home the best we can. Here are few ideas of what could you do without any cost. You can learn new language with Duolingo or Memrise. You can learn coding. Thanks to Codecademy your first steps can be super easy and fun. There are free books about iOS development from Apple. There are so many free tutorials on YouTube about literally any programming language. You can learn about Google Ads and Google Analytics on the official learning platform from Google: SkillShop. Even if you will not use this knowledge to be web analytics specialist, you can use it to develop your own company. If you are a UI designer, you can learn more about UX. And vice versa. Get new skills!

Time to act is now. Learn. Develop new skills. Maybe it will help to save your home budget. Maybe you will start new company or product and help to save economy in your city.
