Winning together with our brand partners in 2022

At Shopee’s annual Brands Summit, we explored an important question on what the new normal means for e-commerce and brands whose online businesses have grown rapidly in the last two years.??

As we anticipate more activities resuming offline, such as travelling, shopping in-store and working from the office, some of the questions that come to mind for brands and business owners include: how do we continue to engage customers online? How can we also help more people to enjoy the benefits of coming online??

To address these topics, I shared about our roadmap to bring on new digital consumers and elevate brand experiences on Shopee.

Broader marketing efforts to increase brand awareness

E-commerce platforms have become an integral part of people’s lifestyles. In the last two years, we have seen 8 times more users shopping at least once a month on Shopee Mall.??

These shoppers frequently buy directly from brands’ official stores. They anticipate monthly sales at our double-digit campaigns, and have formed online shopping habits that we believe will stay on.?

Shoppers are now more savvy when buying online. This is why we are always looking for new ways to deliver a satisfying shopping experience for them. One of which is taking our shopping events a step further to introduce 3.15. This will be our first mega shopping event of the year, so shoppers don’t have to wait till the year-end season for the best deals. In turn, this will give brands more opportunities to build their presence and engage shoppers all year round.

Presenting Shopee Mall milestones and new initiatives

Brands are searching for new ways to improve their visibility and build loyalty among shoppers, and we are improving and innovating our in-app tools to support this. For example, we are rolling out a new sampling channel that can help brands acquire and convert customers. Customers can buy sample-size products through this feature, giving brands an opportunity to incentivise a subsequent purchase.?

This is just one of the many new things to come. Brands can look forward to more features to connect with consumers in unique and personalised ways.

Innovative solutions to drive higher business performance

With more initiatives lined up to help brands attract customers, they need easier access to their business data to make better decisions.?

At the event, we unveiled an enhanced version of our Brand Portal to help with this. Our partners can now access insights, demographics and even real-time add-to-cart behaviour on this platform.

This year, we are also deepening our collaboration with industry leaders, leveraging their tools to help brands propel their growth. One of our key partners is Meta, whom we are working with to integrate Facebook Ads onto our platform. Millions of sellers can now have a one-stop view of their Facebook ad campaigns, which is a strong driver for sales.

Sharing about how brands can build a better e-commerce strategy

Elevating brand experiences with upgraded engagement tools

Beyond transactions, shoppers today are expecting more when they shop online. When they come onto our app, they are no longer just looking to buy things. They want entertainment and a social experience too. For example, tuning in to their favourite livestreams, playing games to earn rewards and trying out new products virtually.?

This is why we are upgrading our popular suite of engagement features to deliver an immersive and personalised experience. This includes using AI to recommend more personalised livestreams to shoppers, and tapping into AR to enhance Shopee BeautyCam, our makeup try-on tool.

Winning Together

Lastly, we are working more closely with our Regional Champion Brands on brand protection initiatives.?

In 2021, Shopee launched the Regional Champion Brands Programme (RCBP) and worked closely with participating brands to co-create regional campaigns that saw great success.

The current 20 brand partners under the programme will enjoy early consideration for pilot brand protection initiatives, such as feedback forums and new tools to simplify and expedite submissions on brand protection matters.?

These are just a few of the many ways brands can build deeper connections with their customers on Shopee.?
