A Winning Streak and Exciting Developments
Rossington Main FC
English football club based in Rossington, Doncaster, South Yorkshire and play in the Northern Counties East League
It’s been another eventful week at Rossington Main FC, with plenty of action both on and off the pitch.
Our first interim boss, Greg Young, is making quite the statement, securing two wins from two games.
The first team this weekend comfortably defeated Pickering Town FC 4-1 at home, and the team have now scored an impressive 8 goals over these two matches Greg has been in charge. Greg was also rightfully applauded off the field by our loyal suporters, and he’s certainly now making a strong case for the permanent managerial position.
In other news our U18 girls had a fantastic start to the weekend, thrashing Staveley Miners Welfare 0-10 away on Saturday morning. However, it wasn't all good news, as our men's development team faced a tough 0-4 loss against local rivals Haworth FC on Saturday afternoon.
Sunday also brought more success with the Women’s Adobe FA Cup action at Oxford Street, where our history making ladies secured a thrilling 6-0 victory over Beverley Ladies in front of a good home crowd and I am delighted with the ladies who now progress to the final qualifying stage.
Our ladies' development team also in action lost a 0-4 against Socrates Ladies FC.
During this interim period for our first team, my role is to fully support Greg and back him just as I would any full-time manager in the role. This includes assisting with the tasks that often go unnoticed, such as budget considerations, training logistics, and managing kit supplies. There's much more to being a football manager at our level than just bringing in players and picking the team, and I’m committed to ensuring Greg has everything he needs to succeed.
Off the field, I’ve also been busy reviewing CVs for the first-team manager's position, handling some overdue invoices, and taking care of general financial housekeeping. Monday included a productive lunchtime catch-up with several club volunteers and the Vice Chairman over a coffee. On Wednesday, we completed a stock take to ensure we’re well-prepared for the weekend’s fixtures.
This week also brought in a couple of inquiries from potential sponsors, and I’ve reached out to them in hopes of further discussions. Additionally, I exchanged some promising messages with our commercial lead, who is in talks with a couple of well-known local entities about some exciting opportunities.
On Friday evening, I attended the ladies' development team training session to catch up with Ferenc, our team manager, who is now in his third week with us and I wanted to reassure him that this is his team, and I will support him fully in establishing the identity he wants to stamp on the squad, as well as any players he wishes to bring in.
Looking ahead, I’ll be attending both our first team and ladies' fixtures this week and catching up with club officials. I also plan to kick off the first-team manager interviews this week.
Thank you for following our progress, and I look forward to sharing more updates on our journey.
