Bid & Tender Support Ltd
Specialist Bid Writing and Management Consultants - helping your organisation win and retain profitable contract work
Welcome to this week’s edition of our newsletter, packed with top tips, advice, and the latest insights to help you win more work through tenders.
Delays - there is nothing more frustrating than a delay. Whether it be on your commute to work, at an airport, catching a train or waiting on a client decision. In public procurement it can be quite normal to see delays in awarding contracts. Sometimes post submission clarifications are required, key resources for sign off are away or just evaluation processes take longer than anticipated. I'd recommend following up with clients on decisions to show you are still interested in the opportunity but never hassle or harass the Procurement Department - regardless of your frustrations - this approach is unlikely to speed up the process and/or sway it in your favour.
A big delay we shared last week was that the Procurement Act release has been delayed into Spring 2025, I am left feeling positive and hopeful that the delay will mean a more robust/ready system is in place on rollout. It has the potential to deliver such positive revisions to support SMEs in tendering for public sector work. If done right we will see a more open, fairer and simplified system to access huge amounts of work.
The Public Sector can often be labelled as just 'working for the Council'. But with the Public Sector there is such a vast array of organisations which makes it a hugely varied and attractive market to add to your customer list. If you would like to be working for organisations such as Universities, Public Corporations, Utility Companies, Central Government, NHS, MOD, MOJ, Schools, Blue Light Services and Housing Providers to name a few - you need to be considering tenders in your Business Development and Sales activities.
Total spend through procurement - i.e. money spent as a result of a tender process is around £350 billion every year!
We want to give all businesses the opportunity to consider what work could be relevant to them in this sector.
For this reason we have launched a new Basic Level Search Service. This delivers a weekly email of tenders released across the UK—sent straight to your inbox in Excel format that you can sort and sift through with keyword searches. Perfect for market research or monitoring opportunities without the hassle of searching multiple sites yourself.
