??Highlights of the Week ??
Updates are coming thick and fast now for the upcoming Procurement Act change. This week we saw the release of the National Procurement Policy Statement, a summary is included below in this newsletter.
From Monday, 24th February, the Procurement Act officially goes live in the UK, bringing significant changes to procurement regulations and processes. This long-anticipated reform is designed to simplify procurement, reduce repetitive selection questionnaires, and standardise due diligence. The aim is to free up resources, save time, and streamline compliance processes, making procurement more efficient for businesses.
A New Central Digital Platform: How to get Registered
One of the key changes is the introduction of a central digital platform where businesses must register and complete a standardised questionnaire. This will be a crucial step for accessing opportunities and ensuring compliance with the new system.
We can help you with your registration on this platform from the 24th of February (when it opens). If you would like our assistance, please let us know as soon as possible so we can schedule this in for you.
While you can wait until your next tender opportunity arises, please note that businesses not registered on the platform will miss out on additional resources and information. Some portals are already integrating the new system, meaning early registration will ensure a smoother transition.
Upcoming Webinar: Thursday, 27th February
To help you navigate these changes, we are hosting a webinar on Thursday, 27th February at 10am. This session will provide a detailed overview of the new platform, guide you through the registration process, answer any questions you may have, and explore the wider impact of the new procurement system.
??Focus In - Top Tips ??
One of the promises of this new system is the centralisation of procurement opportunities. In theory, this means businesses will no longer have to check multiple sources, as all tenders should be in one place. However, in reality, we know that opportunities have historically been published across various platforms. We will be closely monitoring how this transition unfolds and will continue to provide updates on where tenders are actually being published.
While the new system will make procurement more efficient, it won't replace the need for active monitoring and strategy. You will still need to check for relevant opportunities, assess their suitability, and take action accordingly this is where our full search service can support you.
Our Full Search Service covers all sources including current government centralised sources - so if you want comprehensive coverage and early notification of released opportunities this service covers it all so you don't have to - we even do the registrations for you on the individual portals (which will still be used for Quality/ Commercial responses on tenders).
National Procurement Policy Statement Published 13th February 2025
The National Procurement Policy Statement (NPPS) 2025 sets out key priorities for public procurement under the Procurement Act 2023. Contracting authorities must align their procurement strategies with these priorities:
1.??? Economic Growth – Support SMEs and social enterprises, create high-quality jobs, and drive innovation.
2.??? Environmental Sustainability – Achieve net zero, reduce waste, and enforce high environmental standards.
3.??? Social Value – Promote inclusive employment, reduce crime, and address skills gaps.
4.??? Public Service Efficiency – Introduce a public interest test to assess outsourcing vs. in-house service delivery.
The NPPS aims to use public procurement to drive sustainable growth, social impact, and efficiency across the UK.
