Winning Interchange 2020 Challenge

Woohoo!! What a WIN!

Last night, a team I mentored over the past few weeks, won Interchange 2020 - NSW’s first virtual Employability and Entrepreneurship challenge - where student teams from 8 institutions will be working in multi-disciplinary teams to solve real life challenges impacting 21st Century residents, businesses and communities.

My team #7 of 42, 7 people out of 300 participants (from 8 Australian universities), Won the overall challenge, creating a sustainable solution for food (crops) waste in Australia. 

Using Business Model Canvas, and other tools they've learned in the past few weeks, enabled them to come up with the Idea, and articulate the commercial, environmental and societal values in such clarity, their pitch (3 minutes) won the overall challenge. 

The entire challenge and collaboration took place over Zoom. Some of the students were overseas, and contributed in their own time (using various online collaboration tools). No physical contact, no one knew each other before, and virtually nothing in common, other than a student with a desire to make the world a better place. 

All of the teams have done a phenomenal job, and given the circumstances - an extraordinary achievement. 

Last night I was a bit overwhelmed. Today I'm really stoked and proud!
