Winning Impossible Games: Embracing Challenge-Based Living

Winning Impossible Games: Embracing Challenge-Based Living

As we continue our exploration into the principles that guide the journey of Winning Impossible Games, we dive into the concept of challenge-based living, an essential aspect that defines true living.

The path to personal and professional success isn't a straight line but a series of challenges that push us beyond our limits, forcing growth and transformation.

Let's dissect the four principles that shape this conversation:

  1. You are who you believe yourself to be.
  2. The purpose of your life is expansion.
  3. Challenge-based living is actual living.
  4. To become the new you, the current you must die.

Principle 1: You Are Who You Believe Yourself to Be

Heading down the path of life, I messed up pretty good in a lot of ways. I started looking for solutions on how to put my life back together, but I didn’t know how to do that.

Consider this: who you are is who you believe yourself to be. This truth must become your foundation.

For most of us, we put a lot of weight on the opinions of others, defining ourselves based on their feedback rather than our internal compass. Our children do this as teenagers, seeking status and significance from their peers. Why? Because they're trying to answer the simple yet profound question:

"Who am I?"

At the core of Winning Impossible Games is this question. Part of the process involves using fact maps to re-identify the truth of who you are and come to terms with your authentic self.

I had to strip away my foundation and start from scratch, delving into Strength Finder tests, the Colby Index, experiential events, coaches and mentors you name it. All of this was in pursuit of one thing: understanding the storyline that defines who I believe myself to be.

This storyline builds the parameters of what you believe is possible. But the most compelling storyline isn't from external opinions; it's the one you believe internally. The first principle to grasp is that winning impossible games is a function of belief.

There’s who you believe you are today and who you must believe yourself to be to achieve greater results.

Principle 2: The Purpose of Your Life is Expansion

This principle answers the second fundamental question: what is the purpose of your life? Many people have opinions, especially within religious frameworks. When I became a Christian, I was taught to accept Jesus and be saved, expecting everything to work out. But life still required me to deal with daily challenges—work, family, self-care. How could I be saved yet still feel enslaved?

I realized that the purpose of life is expansion. From childhood to adulthood, we grow, become wiser, and more significant. Yet, around age 50, we witness a decline—a plateau followed by a downward spiral. Retirement, a concept I don't agree with, signifies a complete halt in productivity and growth.

I propose that the purpose of life is to continually expand. To grow and become more than we were yesterday. This principle is about breaking free from the conventional ascend-plateau-descend model and embracing a life of perpetual growth.

Principle 3: Challenge-Based Living is Actual Living

If expansion is the purpose of life, then challenge-based living is the method. This principle asserts that real living involves facing and overcoming challenges that push us forward. By design, this means choosing to rise and become more today than we were yesterday. The gap between who you are now and who you aspire to be is bridged by challenges.

Embracing a challenge-based lifestyle activates the principle of expansion.

Through this process, you learn to change your storyline about who you believe yourself to be. Like a young boy progressing to adulthood, our storylines evolve, shaping our identity at each stage.

At Reset Warrior, we reject the default game of age and the ascend-plateau-descend model. We advocate for a challenge-based life because mere survival or being "okay" isn't truly living.

If you’re having the same conversations you had two years ago, that’s a problem. If someone tells you you haven't changed since high school or college, that's a problem. Remaining the same means you've sold out on growth and transformation.

Principle 4: To Become the New You, the Current You Must Die

The fourth principle is perhaps the most challenging:

to become the new you, the current you must die.

This isn't just a metaphor; it's a fundamental truth. The current mindset and stories you live by create a prison. To transform, you must let go of who you are now and embrace the new mindset, skill sets, and stories of your next level of paradise.

This process never ends. What got you here won’t get you to the next level. Every new paradise becomes your next prison, requiring you to let go and move forward. Winning Impossible Games is about progress, and these principles set the stage for advancing to new production strategies, taking this game to an entirely new level.

With these four principles as your foundation, you're now equipped to dive into the production phase. This is where the real work begins. Production is about translating these principles into actionable strategies that drive tangible results. It's about creating systems and processes that align with your beliefs, purpose, and commitment to challenge-based living.

By embracing these principles, you're not just preparing to win impossible games; you're setting yourself up to dominate them. As we move forward, remember that each step in production is a step toward a more expansive, transformed, and fulfilled version of yourself.
