When you are tasked with something challenging, stick to your usual routine, because thats the one that works.

Thats the one that earned you access to the responsibility in the first place. Adding flare is not the same as stressing about your entire approach or method. Always add some colour to your work, as mentioned in this artivle about Showmanship. Squeazing a deadline or increasing volume is also ok. Its the reason why you were chosen for the task at hand. The "man for the job" sort of speak.

But do not reinvent the fundementals. I know sometimes it may be boring to see a method or approach working, but if you are faced with a large task ahead, it is not the time to see what failure looks like because you decided to kick the legs out from underneath your top performer.
