I'm obsessed with winning. I am talking about winning at my job, with my family, with people who look to me for leadership. I dont think we fully appreciate winning until we've lost and I've lost A LOT. It took me a long time to realize we all have that winner inside of us. I am a winner and so are YOU. Winners don’t deal in luck. They just strive for excellence and refuse to give up. Failure is simply not an option for winners. Here are my thoughts on what defines winners.
1.NO FEAR - How many times have you personally come across a job, business or an opportunity that you knew would be successful, but lacked the courage to invest yourself in it. Winners have the courage to move forward without fear or doubt.
2. Be a person that DOES. I know a lot of people who want greater things in life. They have the desire but they are not willing to DO. Stop overthinking. Move through making mistakes knowing you will make them. QUIT procrastinating and become an action taker. Ask yourself, what is to be gained by procrastination? More self doubt and more sense of denying yourself. You will be a failure if you accept failure. The secret to success revolves around your ability to recognize and deal with the part of you that offers resistance.
3. Self-discipline to see it through. Self-discipline is a skill that can be learned and developed. Contrary to popular belief, people are not born self-disciplined. They are trained that way. If you were not trained by your parents to be self-disciplined, good news is you can train yourself.
4. Persistence. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
- noun: persistence
firm or obstinate continuance in a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.
5. Make Mistakes...it's OK! You NEED failure. It’s impossible to get it right 100% of the time and it is because of your failure that you learn what works and what doesn’t. Criticizing yourself is a terrible idea. Don't be so hard on yourself. Instead be adaptive and flexible to new ways of doing it.
6. Accept responsibility. You are responsible for what happens with your life. It’s not ok to blame others for your mistakes and failures. You will allow yourself to be controlled by what you allow to control you. If you keep blaming people you’ll soon learn that
7. Optimism is your heartbeat. We can’t control every thought that comes into our minds, but we can control what we choose to do with those thoughts when they come our way. The way you think, day in day out, affects all aspects of your life. Learning to listen to your “internal dialogue” will help you recognize your thought patterns and how they may be affecting the way you handle the stressful situations of daily living.
