A Winners Mindset
For the past two decades, I've been obsessed with why and how some people achieve outstanding results, and others don't. For most of my adult life, I've worked in high-performance environments and have had the pleasure of seeing, studying, and coaching some of the best salespeople on the planet. Within this article, I'll share with you my insights on what makes them who they are and what separates them from the rest.
Before we get started, let me put something in perspective. There are athletes in every arena of life. There are sales athletes, attorney athletes, medical athletes, just like there are traditional sports athletes. In sports and other aspects of life, you have those that do "ok" making a normal living, and then others who absolutely crush it, making multiple times the income, get all the trophies, and seen as the very best.
It all boils down to having an #Unslackable MINDSET. There is a hardcoded belief system behind top performers, they are wired to give it their all and relentless with their actions until they get the results they desire.
Here are six habits of highly successful people.
CLARITY & FOCUS - High-performance achievers are crystal clear on the outcome they desire. They know what and why they want it and what they must do to get it. They create action plans for each area they want to strive in. High performers are laser-focused and operate with a high sense of urgency. They don't allow themselves to become distracted by other actions that take them away for their main goals. They prioritize and respect their goals. They constantly measure their results and make necessary adjustments in redirecting their approach until they achieve their desired outcome.
PASSION - When you think about the best of the best, the word passionate usually resonates alongside their name. They are obsessed with what they do. They play full-out and always give it 100% regardless of how they feel. They know they are always on stage and have a deep desire to achieve excellence. They want to be known for their work and their work is their legacy.
PREPARATION - Preparation is the process of drilling, practicing and perfecting. Repetition is the mother of all skills. If you do something over, and over enough times you eventually will get better at it. The first time you went to ride a bike the outlook didn't look promising. You kept falling, it was painful and most likely an embarrassing experience. Regardless of how hard it was, you kept trying repeatedly until you got it right. With a bit more practice you eventually could ride the bike with your hands off the handlebars, jump ramps or even do crazy cool bike tricks. The best of the best live by the creed of preparation and train constantly to ensure they continue developing their skills.
DRIVEN TO WIN - High-performance achievers are thrilled with the notion of competing and winning. Winners are super competitive with themselves and against others. Winning is a by-product of their preparation and they constantly starve for results. Winning demonstrates they are best in class and winning gives them a sense of accomplishment. They win not just for themselves but for their loved ones, their fans or peers. Their trophies come in many different forms such as their paychecks, recognition, fulfillment, contribution, growth, awards or being connected to something greater than themselves. They don't give up.
FEEDBACK - High-performance achievers seek feedback constantly. They rely on a coach, mentor, teacher or someone they respect to keep them on track. They seek better ways of doing things and always monitor their results. They learn from and surround themselves with other top achievers.
PEAK STATE - High-performance achievers get themselves into Peak State regularly so that they can achieve their ambitious goals. They know how to leverage their thoughts, their body, and communication to get things done. Top performers condition and prep themselves emotionally and physically in order to conquer their own limiting beliefs or doubts. They understand that they are warriors of life and emotions and getting into Peak State gives them the power to win the battle against rejection, losing, self-doubt, fear of failing or other debilitating circumstances or emotions.
By understanding and putting these six success principles into action, you will also be able to become a high-performance achiever. Success leaves clues and success can be very contagious once you become exposed to those same clues and put them into action.

3 年Manny great article! Very true inisghts. Something I would like to add is: VISION! I have seen some great achievers who have an unweavering VISION - I guess this idea is caputured to some extent in your first point of Clarity and Fiocus - which is bit of an internalized understanding of Vision - but what I mean is Externalizing the vision. By cutting pictures of them and sticking them beside successful peopl they dream to be around, by cutting out articles of role modles and using correction fluid to put their name and Photo of them holding the rewards or in the moments of having already achieved what they desire. I've told a friend of mine who did this and went on to become the UN Youth Ambassdor of #SriLanka and now serves within the United Nations Human Rights #commission. That she was psycho! but I think you have to be that crazy about winning if you really want to make it to the top! WONDERFUL WRITEUP - Hope my contribution has added value ??
