On December 30th it will be a year since my mother made her transition. My family, spent last Christmas day at her hospital bedside. To say its been an amazing year would be putting it lightly.
I learned so much about her over these last twelve months ... I learned more about her by going through her things then I learned in my entire lifetime. One of my biggest discoveries was, from time to time, what she did at her work, is what I do for my work ... training. She never once mentioned it. I found this poem among her business files -- she retired twenty years ago. It looked like it had been recopied several times ... so I retyped it.
What I learned most over this last year is my mother was a winner and .... I am my mother's daughter ...

5 年A mother's love conquers all of man's creations... A community named New Burlington Ohio was once a thriving little town. Complete with homes hand built by men, your local corner market, and kids riding their bikes along the sidewalks. The town is now gone... Purchased by the state for a watershed project and bull dozed. The labor of men to build, the love of women to nuture... And all the material objects of a once loving family were destroyed by man and progress. But was it??? In the spring you can walk through the woods and see some concrete left by a foundation... An old telephone pole by some cracked blacktop... But the never ending love of a woman, a wife, and a mother still lives on there. Why you ask??? Because if you sit back and look... You can see beautiful Tulips still growing every year where the houses once stood. The labor of a mother to adorn her home still lives on today! Beyond the grave, beyond the ways of the world... Her endless desire to compliment the world lives on. :) Who will you adorn today?

5 年Hi Donna, I had a classmate in elementary school in Oklahoma City, Okla. Her name was Donna White, too. I left Oklahoma for college and graduated from USC. Just wondering if you are that Donna White from Oklahoma. Regardless, I love hearing about your re-discovery of your mother through her artifacts. I am an Archeologist of Earthly Pursuits.
