And the winner is......

WOW!

Eight years ago I was sitting in a meeting room being briefed by a consultant on a project to kick off programmatic OOH in the UK. I had no idea what it was, how it worked, what it could do or why we would want to. Flash forwards to this Wednesday and we went LIVE with the very first dedicated Programmatic DOOH awards in the UK:

New Digital Age x JCDecaux Programmatic DOOH LIVE awards…And boy was it LIVE!

We wanted to do something different to shake up the market in the same way we did when we launched our SSP VIOOH six and a half years ago, firing the starting pistol for #pDOOH in the UK. We were so lucky to find a partner in the New Digital Age who shared our vision of reinvigorating the media awards scene. In a change from the standard award format we wanted things to be live, exciting and represent the dynamism that I'm lucky enough to see in the programmatic DOOH community every single day.

Our community

Rather than a sit down dinner and pre voted for categories at expensive tables we decided to sponsor the whole thing and allow anyone in the industry to apply for tickets. The live element was voting on the day, so everyone in the room was a judge. We then weighted this against a panel of expert judges scores to decide on the winners then and there in the room. A massive thanks to the New Digital Age team and the JCDecaux marketing team who managed to pull this miracle off. The whole thing was risky, pioneering and innovative (if I say so myself); representative of all the great talent in the room who have done so much to grow programmatic out of home from a small acorn to a mighty oak. Over 100 people all in one room taking the next step in our combined journey of permanent progress together.

I can't talk highly enough of all the fantastic work that we managed to see on the day and the bravery of those shortlisted stand up in front of their peers and in 3 minutes share the amazing work they are doing. So we were off to the races’ presenters were presenting, voters were voting and we were trying to keep the juggernaut on the tracks. Thanks to the amazing team at JCDecaux who have worked tirelessly over the last six plus years to bring programmatic out of home to the fore of the media landscape.

After a wild hour of presenting it was time for all the guests to take a quick break, grab a drink and reflect on what they had seen. Meanwhile the tabulation got under way and before we knew it it was time to announce the winners.
