Winnellie Group - June Showcase Company 2022
Industry Capability Network - Northern Territory (ICN NT)
ICN is where major projects and companies go to find local businesses. Let ICN introduce you!
Established in Darwin in 1983, Winnellie Group is a proudly family-owned-and-operated Australian business built upon over 65 years of combined knowledge, insights and experience in providing specialised products and services to cornerstone industrial sectors across Australia.
Founder Richard Nicholson credits the business’s success to always putting customers needs first, which – as the company continues to grow around Australia – remains a foundational value that remains part of the core way Winnellie Group conducts their operations.
The company remains in the family, with Max Nicholson, Richard’s son, now serving as General Manager across the three core businesses, Winnellie Hydraulics, Winnellie Valve and Process and Waltan Tools and Equipment.
Originally specialising in the service of hydraulic components in the transport, commercial fishing and earthmoving industries, Winnellie Group grew with the rest of the Territory to develop a name for itself amongst the larger resource industries as they began to expand their presence around the NT and Australia.
Winnellie Valve and Process has recently been awarded the valve contract for the East Rockingham Waste to Energy plant in Western Australia. This project is forecast to process approximately 330,000 tonnes of waste per year, preventing the release of more than 300,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. This opportunity has allowed Winnellie Valve and Process to diversify its portfolio and position itself as a serious player in the Australian valve market.
Due to the continued inroads with industry and the diversification of the Winnellie Group, they have had successful wins in the growing Defence Industry here in the Northern Territory. Projects such as the Larrakeyah Barracks Redevelopment Project has recently seen them win work that will further increase the group's capability and help support the Territory economy. This growth reflects the group's success in fostering and maintaining the highest standards with industry partners and their customers.
As Winnellie Group continues to drive forward, so does the market’s confidence in their ability to deliver. Max Nicolson, the General Manager, said ‘Whilst Winnellie is enjoying strong growth, as a team we are most focussed on creating a great place to come to work, providing great customer service and bringing local people along for the journey with exciting career opportunities on offer for the right candidates’.
