Wining the Clash of Egos

- I'm more right than you.
- I'm more important than you.
Every conflict and disagreement is about these two issues.
The more an interaction escalates and emotions get involved, the more the need to be right becomes apparent. This happens just as easily at home as in any business environment.
If you recognize that every argument is about these two factors, doesn't that help?
- Do you need to prove you're right?
- Do you need to exert you anger to feel powerful?
- Does it really have to be your way or nothing?
When personalities conflict in a clash of egos; recognize the truth of what is happening. It will help you keep the proper emotional perspective.
Add the ancient wisdom of Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelious and you'll be far more effective:
"It isn't manly to be enraged. Rather, gentleness and civility are more human, and therefore manlier. ... Anger is not impressive or tough—it's a mistake."
