Winging It

When it comes to designing your training program there’s one thing I don’t like to do at DPM and that’s just making it up as we go along.
Call me old fashioned, but I like to have a program written out for you to follow for that day – even with the group sessions.
Sure, some things might need a bit of tweaking as we go, or something isn’t going to work for a particular session if you’ve slept bad and picked up a niggle or two or whatever.
That’s a given considering none of us are 21 anymore and are often dealing with the issues that come up from that.
Keeping a record also helps me remember what we did last time, or even a month or two back if I have to make a tweak and make a note on your program.
Maybe it’s a side effect from too many concussions playing footy (there were a few), but at least I can remember what we did that way with good accuracy.
The only thing I might change from time to time, especially in a group setting, is that sometimes I see what’s written down (I usually sit down and do my programs on a Wednesday the week before in advance) and think “nah” and change an exercise or two up.
The reason for that is usually based on who is at that session, and that often comes back to whatever niggles they might be dealing with at that time.
If there’s a few with similar type of things, then I make an adjustment or two on the run.
Same goes for wet weather if we get stuck and need to do an undercover workout.
No panicking, there’s an easy adaption.
I guess with experience comes easy adaption.
The take home point is sometimes it’s okay to wing it with your training, but you wouldn’t want to be relying on that all the time to get a consistent result.
That’s only going to end in tears.
The good thing that most DPMers enjoy is I take any thinking out of it all. They just have to turn up and do whatever the game plan is for that day and I take care of the rest.
Sound like something you want to experience? Let me shout you two weeks on the house to see whether we’re a good fit for each other.
If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, hit reply and let me know.
Cheers,
Daniel
