Many years ago, I started this group to expose more wines and grape varieties from other countries (especially lesser known) to wine lovers around the world. Today this group has over four thousand members.
Now, more then ever diversity should be the way to go. For many years (when I lived nearby NYC) I attended hundreds of professional tasting events and was blessed to try wines from many regions made with countless grape varieties. That exposure was something I was able to share with my wife. We often enjoy wines from many different regions; always trying to match our dinner wine with the night’s menu.
Since moving from the metropolitan New York area finding artisan crafted wines from many countries is almost impossible to do. Most of what we can find are the mass-produced lower quality wines. It is very hard to go backwards with the quality of wine we drink. We do belong to a cooperative wine group where we get to taste different wines, but it is only a handful every week or two.
Physically there is no real reason that high quality low production wines can’t be made available to wine lovers in most of the 50 states.
Hopefully it won’t be long before humanity begins to rebuild the world economy and when that happens governments need to open the doors to global commerce of all wine.
If you are a member of The Wineries of the World group, we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on how to grow distribution so that all people can enjoy whatever wines they choose.
If you are a true lover of wines from around the world but have not yet joined us the group’s homepage link is below. We welcome everyone who shares their passion for wine.
