Son of the Soil Launches Three Wines for Youth Upliftment

The Son of the Soil Foundation, an NPC founded by Simonsig Wine Ambassador Denzel Swarts, has released three wines under the Son of the Soil label. Profits from these wines will contribute to the active role the SOS Leadership Foundation plays in the upliftment of the youth in the Cape’s wineland communities.

The three wines, all made at Simonsig Wines, are the Undiscovered Jewel Pinotage, Infinite Sparkle Cap Classique and a Chenin Blanc named Break the Mould.

Swarts, who grew-up on the Simonsig Wines in Stellenbosch where his father was a labourer, says that it is an honour for the Son of the Soil Leadership Foundation to offer its own brand of wines. “The ethos of Son of the Soil Leadership Foundation is largely driven by the wineland community,” says Swarts. “Here there has for generations been a dire need to inspire, motivate and mentor the youth into seeking better opportunities through the offering of guidelines aimed at growing them as human beings and making them realise their potential.

“As part of this community and with its representatives being largely targeted by the activities of Son of the Soils, the Leadership Foundation is proud to have a range of wines that not only offer excellent drinking quality but represent the product that is at the very heart of this region of the Cape.”

Through various outreach activities, Son of the Soil Leadership Foundation aims to create an environment where previously disadvantage youth of the Western Cape can become active citizen and participate in building better?communities by breaking the cycle of poverty by minimizing school dropouts among?youth.

Son of the Soil’s physical program runs over three years, bringing youth into the program in Grade 10 and journey with them until Grade 12, after which they exit the programme.?

Swarts has been named Community Builder Influencer Brand of the Year at the 2020 Africa Brand Summit and recently been awarded Youth Mentoring Services of the Year at the 2020/21South Africa Prestige Awards.
