Wine #1 Announced for <<Seasons 2017>> Exhibition Launch Event
Michel Genet ‘Esprit’ Blanc de Blanc
Tasting notes by Frank Hannon-Tan of Mother Vine
The first wine featured in the build-up to the <<Seasons 2017>> Exhibition Launch Event is a grower Champagne from Michel Genet.
Traditionally, growers in Champagne have kept small parcels of their crop to produce sparkling wine for themselves while selling the majority of their grapes to large houses (think Moet, Veuve and the like).
These large houses blend the juice from their growers to produce a product that represents their ‘House Style’ consistently year after year, often blending parcels of wine from different vintages to achieve this.
Grower Champagne however comes from small parcels of land, the subsequent wine is a true representation of terroir and the skills of the vigneron.
This current vintage of Champagne Michel Genet Esprit is a true example terroir, wine that is evocative of a place and in this case, the terroir is the unique chalky limestone soils of the Cote de Blancs in Champagne.
The Esprit is a blanc de blanc, that is 100% made from chardonnay, with a clear line of acid on the palate couched in in a fine mousse with green apple, lemon zest and finished off with honeyed characters.
Perfect as an aperitif, I’m sure you will enjoy this wine as much as we do!
Bookings for <<Seasons 2017>> Exhibition Launch Event are open now.
