Winds sensor and Direction sensor

Winds sensor and Direction sensor

BKC-ANM - Includes both wind speed and wind direction sensors. Rugged components stand up to hurricane‐force winds, yet are sensitive to a light breeze. Includes sealed bearings for long life. The range and accuracy specifications have been verified in wind‐tunnel tests. In areas where icing of the anemometer is a problem, drip rings deflect water from the joint between moving parts

1. Types of Wind Sensors

a. Anemometers (Measure Wind Speed)

  • Cup Anemometer: Three or four cups rotate in response to wind speed. Commonly used for precise wind speed measurement.
  • Propeller Anemometer: Has a horizontal propeller and a tail for orientation. Measures both speed and direction simultaneously.
  • Ultrasonic Anemometer: Uses ultrasonic sound waves to measure wind velocity. Highly accurate, no moving parts, and can measure 3D wind components.
  • Hot-Wire Anemometer: Measures wind speed based on the cooling effect of air on a heated wire. Often used in laboratory settings.

b. Wind Vanes (Measure Wind Direction)

  • Mechanical Wind Vane: A simple device with an arrow that aligns with the wind direction.
  • Digital Wind Vane
