Yet I hadn’t realized that she was also a fiction writer capable of invoking the emotional depth readers will experience in Windows to the Soul. This book, the story of a young family torn apart by multiple tragedies, is a compelling read that is sure to engage your heart and your soul. But the ending, with a focus on forgiveness and redemption, will leave you inspired!

The writer made me feel the emotions of the characters and I experienced the entire range of emotions! Diana Black is a gifted and talented writer! Thank you Diana for writing on this subject and for putting into words the emotional struggles that an adult foster child experiences. Beautifully done!

Not only was I completely immersed in Gabriel Hart's journey, but also the lives of each of the characters Ms. Black so skillfully and lovingly portrays. This may be her first novel, but I hope it's not her last.

By Mary Cunningham on June 28, 2017 - Windows to the Soul, by Diana Black, covers the gamut of love, rage, and grief. In one beautifully crafted day, the author gives us a first-hand view of how the reactions to the loss of a loved one swings wildly from person to person. Even parent to parent.
I was fortunate enough to see this story evolve from beginning to completion and it doesn’t disappoint. “Windows” moves, heartbreakingly, from one emotion to another while allowing you to grieve and love right alongside the Hart family.
Although the ending was almost predictable, it makes no difference because getting there was an emotional, satisfying journey. Highly recommended summer, winter…anytime read.

Anyone who has lost someone dear will be able to connect to our protagonist, Gabe, as he navigates life in the aftermath of tragedy. A tale of both heartbreak and inspiration, Black's book is not to be overlooked.

In this well-crafted novel, Ms. Black develops her characters and allows the reader to get a good look at the complexities of human nature. Love runs deep, but so does anger and guilt. This novel explores these emotions as they pertain to each character's attitude toward an accidental death. Beautifully written!
