Windows 11 Update, update....!

So it's a week or two since I updated my laptop from Windows 10 - Windows 11 as a result of my participation in the Windows Insiders Programme which gives me very very early access to code straight from the Redmond and the Microsoft development team. Here is my original post.

I promised to post an update after a couple of weeks with my views and thoughts of using Windows 11.

I have bullet pointed a few key points and comments and will post some more feature updates as I get used to them.

? So when I initially updated my Windows 11 release it was on version 21H1 22000.51

? I am now on feature release 22000.65 so Windows Update Services are working hard?behind the scenes and Microsoft are clearly kicking out many updates to my initial release.

? I like the new centralised Start menu, but don't worry there is a setting to shift if back to the left if you really want to. However the start button is now more convenient in my view and experience so I have left it where it is. And on the start menu you now get search, task view, the new widgets icon, file explorer, Edge and the new updated Windows store icon as default.

? You now get a little line underneath active apps which is quite useful too.

? Next up is Windows 11 widgets. Presently this is limited to Microsoft widgets but third party widgets are coming soon. I am an Android person so widgets are very familiar with me, nice to see them finally on Windows.

?? While we are on the subject, not a new feature but did you know you can connect your Android phone to Windows, access you apps and run Android apps natively!! This is a pretty big deal tbh. Oh and by the way you can now download Android apps from the Windows Store and run them natively on Windows 11, you heard that right!

? Also, a feature you probably don't know about is virtual desktops.... press the task view icon and you can launch an entire separate virtual desktop by clicking New Desktop. You can launch your work stuff on Desktop 1 and personal apps/docs on Desktop 2 etc. Very handy and I use this a lot. Best kept secret etc...

Finally, you should note that you need a dedicated TPM 2 cryptography chip to use Windows 11. Good to see security is front of mind in this update, however many computers will need replacing in order to meet the miniumum hardware reqs for TPM 2.0.

That is all for now but I may post again as I have been playing with Direct X 12 and my 11th Gen Intel i5 chipset which incorporates iRISx graphics so I might share my experiences of that across various games. I am having a nightmare with Fortnite! I will also post an update about Windows 11 snap layouts, multiple displays and the new Windows Store.?

Please post comments and let me know if any of my ramblings are of interest to you.

I'm personally looking forward to it Rob, but both my work laptop and personal Surface do not have the requisite chip...thoughts? Or am I wrong?
