Windows 10 Upgrade
If you are still waiting for your Windows 10 upgrade to happen, you can force install it - Windows 10 force upgrade link - select the 64 or 32 bit version (check what you currently have under control panel, system) - https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10
Once you have downloaded and run the application it will ask if you want to either to create a media copy, to distribute internally, or do an upgrade of your PC.
Some after installation tips for those upgrading from Windows 7 SP1 or 8.1 to 10:-
1. Go to my computer, right click or C (or system) drive then click properties, click disk clean-up, once that has run click clean-up system files - in there you will see Windows upgrade files which you can delete to save space (warning: you won't be able to go back to your older Windows version if you delete these), this will get back much needed space for those users with SSD's.
2. If you are finding Outlook (Office) 2007, 2010 or 2013 isn't sending emails, go to run CMD as an administrator (search CMD, right click the run as administrator) and in there type 'sfc /SCANNOW'
Once that has run restart Outlook and try again (you may need to reboot your computer).
3. It is a really good idea to uninstall and reinstall your virus/internet security software again (as some need a different version for Windows 10 and you may find your software missing after installation) - search the providers sites for a remove software application, as these remove the software better than the Windows uninstall. If you share folders/drive across you network you may need to turn these back to ‘trusted’ under the software’s firewall network settings, after you reinstall.
4. Go to system settings, privacy (click on the Windows icon in the left corner of the start bar and then click the settings cog) and turn off what you do not want to report back to Microsoft (click through all the options), as the default for most of these is on!
5. Search and update your graphics card drivers to a Windows 10 version from either NVidia or AMD's websites (if you have one of these type of cards), as Windows installs its version(s) which aren't the latest.
6. Go to control panel, region, click on additional settings in the bottom corner and check you date/time settings as some users have been switched back to US format by default (unless you're in the US then that's fine).
For those using PDQ desktop, it runs fine in Windows 10 and those using pdqCompare, it also runs fine using Microsoft’s new Edge internet browser.
If I come across anything else I will post an update.
