The record was double. Daily production and maximum power reached historical values.
The first day of February was marked by the new historical maximum of daily wind production. The National Electric System registered on this day the record in both daily production (102.8 GWh) and maximum power (4594 MW).
In a statement to the newspapers, REN said that on this day, the share of wind production was 63% and, at the time of the wind, the production corresponded to 90% of the national consumption, while 3.7% went to export .
This new historical record of daily wind production in Portugal follows the maximum achieved just over a week before, on January 23, when daily production was 101.9 GWh, which corresponds to 61% of daily consumption.
Currently, 5150 MW are installed in wind farms, which supply on average about 25% of the national consumption.
Last year, clean energy production supplied 52% of the national consumption, plus export balance, distributed by wind and hydro, both with 23%, biomass with 5% and photovoltaic with 1.5%.
It is worth mentioning the effort that has been developed at the national level, in order to create the necessary conditions, both in the development and operation of the Network, and in the sophistication of its System Management functions, for a sustainable pursuit of goals more ambitious integration of renewables, in response to the National and Community Energy Policies will decarbonize the Economy.
