WIN Project: Empowering Women in Peripheral Industrial Regions of the Danube Region

The WIN project aims to promote gender equality and create sustainable economic opportunities for women in peripheral industrial regions. With ten partners bringing diverse expertise and resources, WIN addresses the socio-economic challenges faced by women in areas impacted by industrial decline, striving to improve labor market access and encourage female entrepreneurship.

Challenges and Goals

The WIN project confronts challenges such as economic inequalities due to industrial decline, skills shortages, and societal barriers limiting women’s workforce participation. Key goals include equipping women with skills and resources for success as entrepreneurs and employees while creating a social environment that supports equality and dismantles gender-based obstacles.

First Partner Meeting and Study Visit

The first in-person partner meeting took place on February 28 in Ljubljana, where the partners discussed project direction and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting women’s workforce integration. Following the meeting, partners visited Trbovlje to learn about local labor market challenges, participate in roundtable discussions, and gain insights into programs aimed at boosting female employment.

WIN has established Innovation Groups in seven regions to foster innovative solutions targeting the challenges women face in local job markets. These groups aim to facilitate the transition toward a greener, more inclusive economy by identifying and addressing specific local issues.
