Wimmer Introduces yellowFOX Tunnel Excavator

Wimmer, a leader in tunnel excavation, has an impressive line of products specially designed for smaller tunnel cross-sections. The Wimmer tunnel excavator series includes the Blue Badger, eBadger, and miniBadger. These machines are known for their flexibility and high efficiency, making them a preferred choice for many in the industry.

The latest addition to this series is the yellowFOX, a tunnel excavator that fills the gap for applications where the Blue Badger might be too small. The yellowFOX is designed for working heights from 4.2 meters, making it a versatile tool for various excavation projects.

The yellowFOX is built on a Liebherr platform, custom-made for Wimmer. This isn't a standard platform but a special version comprising a Liebherr 914 Compact Litronic superstructure and a Liebherr 920 Compact Litronic undercarriage. The excavator boom of the yellowFOX, like the Badger family, is also custom-made by Wimmer.

It is build with intelligent technology made in Thalgau. It has a breakout force of 120 kN and a tear force of 115 kN. The machine's operating weight is approximately 22 tons, and it is powered by a 90 kW Tier IV Final Stage engine. The boom can be swivelled by 45 degrees, and it features a push rod to allow the cylinder to be concealed or protected.

The yellowFOX comes with several safety and standard equipment. The safety equipment includes an integrated fire extinguishing system, an emergency stop button, and an optional Blaxtair person detection system. The standard equipment consists of a central lubrication system, a reversible fan, a 2-grouser bottom plate 500 mm with a chainscraper, a refuelling pump, and fire-resistant hydraulic oil (PAG).

The yellowFOX also features protected routing of the hoses and lines for better protection against damage, a Tunnel A-Lock quick coupler with SUVA type-examination certificate, and a bucket cylinder with a push rod for complete protection of the cylinder. The boom kinematics are optimized for tunnelling.
