WIMAR Singapore Member Spotlight: Jarek Mlodziejewski?

People are the driving force behind WIMAR Singapore. Meet Jarek Mlodziejewski [Commodities Specialist Metals & Mining APAC].

We asked Jarek about his drive to give back by volunteering with the networking and professional development work-stream at WIMAR.

Tell us about your role and key accountabilities for WIMAR Singapore.

Jarek Mlodziejewski:

Malan Wu and I lead the networking and professional development work-stream at WIMAR. Our job is to provide opportunities for our WIMAR members to meet their peers in the industry as well as build on their current skill-set. Singapore is a hub for the commodities industry, with plenty of members willing to share their experiences with newcomers.?

Long-lasting friendships have been made and if you are new to the industry, it is an invaluable way to get involved.

What drove you to volunteer for WIMAR Singapore??

I was lucky enough to be involved with WIMAR early on in my career in Singapore, participating in a number of fantastic events. I’ve made some great friends through WIMAR and have built long-lasting professional relationships, which have stood till today. I wanted to be able to give back to the group. I want to improve WIMAR'a profile at S&P Global and provide a platform for our employees just starting out in the industry to meet some amazing people.

What has your experience been like since volunteering for WIMAR Singapore? What have you enjoyed or found rewarding so far?

The volunteers at WIMAR are all high-performing individuals in their respective companies, and they bring a lot of energy to WIMAR. They are all passionate about providing a voice to our peers and giving opportunities for all of our members to better themselves. Working with such a group of individuals has been amazing and I am humbled by the amount of expertise they all bring to the table. I’ve enjoyed being surrounded by such people, and just seeing the positive responses from our members after our events has been all the reward I need.

Outside of your work with WIMAR Singapore, what keeps you busy??

?Jarek Mlodziejewski:?

COVID has certainly kept a lid on activities but I normally quite enjoy team sports such as football and cricket. Typically though, you’ll find me at home cooking or generally winding down (when not on my phone!). I’ve just married my amazing partner of four years, and she keeps me on my toes. I prefer Cafes to Bars, though won’t say no to a drink, and I probably spend too much time scrolling through my news feeds on current events or keeping an eye on commodities markets. Adjusting to life post-COVID with more business travel and the disruption of a two + year routine has not been easy, but with the support of my partner and S&P, it has not been a bad experience.
