We asked Dianne about her drive to give back by volunteering with the networking and professional development work-stream at WIMAR.

?What is your role and key accountabilities for WIMAR Singapore?

I have recently joined WIMAR as a Board member, representing the Marketing business of Anglo American, and have the role of being responsible for the Membership workstream.

This means building our membership profile by engaging with new and existing members to expand our footprint within the industry and extended communities proactively.

?What drove you to volunteer for WIMAR Singapore?

I have come from a financial background and found that WIMAR was a great initiative to gain a better understanding of the mining industry and to be involved in helping promote the role of women in the industry.?

?What has your experiences been like since volunteering for WIMAR Singapore? (ie, what have you enjoyed or found rewarding so far?)

I am new to the WIMAR Board but have been attending WIMAR sessions since I joined Anglo American 4 yrs ago.? I have found it to be a great foundation for building networks and gaining valuable insight into the mining industry and its actors.

?Outside of your work with WIMAR Singapore, what keeps you busy?? (ie, a small blurb on your day job and/or family life in Singapore)

My role at Anglo American keeps me busy as I am the Compliance Manager but am also supported by a great team which then gives me time to explore and enjoy Singapore. I am from New Zealand and have a love for the water and the outdoors. In Singapore, I am lucky to have a 50m pool which I use often in the heat and have found an appreciation for the Botanical Gardens during COVID; when you visit often, you get a different experience every time. It helps to realise that change is constant.
