If Wills could hug

Your Will should be a thorough and detailed document, and it should make you feel warm and fuzzy.
When you choose executors, ensure you put the correct people in place, to sort things out. Think about who has the skills, and who's incentivised to deal with matters. Appointing a company is a good idea if there are particular complications or your family dynamics need the objectivity of someone independent to lead the way. Otherwise, think in terms of your own family.
If you have children under eighteen years old, you should appoint guardians in your Will. Guardians are responsible for bringing up your children if you die before they're adults. I often refer to the guardians as the cuddlies. They will reflect your values and philosophy as far as possible, and they need to take on this very personal responsibility.
Finally, your Will is going to outline who should benefit - your beneficiaries. The obvious choice will be stated, but please think beyond those people and their children. How would you want your estate shared out if you and your obvious beneficiaries were wiped out together?
Once you've thought through all of the above, taken action, and reached the point where all of it is articulated in your valid Will, you will, I promise, feel the exquisite fuzzy feeling of a warm cosy hug.
If you'd like to experience an insight into how warm and fuzzy a Will might make you feel, applied to your personal circumstances, give me a call on 01727 840 240 or drop me a line at [email protected] and we can set up a time to speak and maybe even virtually hug.
