Willpower at Christmas weaker than the breaking strain of a Kit Kat?

When it comes to Christmas most people's willpower is weaker than the breaking strain of a Kit Kat. If YOU fall into this category take heed of Top Christmas Mistake No. 2. Turning up hungry to a party where there is going to be lots of food and drink is going to end in a feeding frenzy. Your resolve to resist those canapes as they come round for a third time will be non-existent and you'll be into your second glass of proseco before you've said hello to the host. Always have a pre-party snack. And I don't mean a slice of toast and jam. You need something that contains both protein and good fats, as these slow stomach emptying AND will help delay the effects of your first glass of wine / bottle of beer / tequila shot etc. Being more satiated and less intoxicated are good ingredients for self control. Here are a few ideas:

  • A pot of plain yoghurt with some nuts and a few berries
  • An egg or slice of cold meat with some salad and humus
  • Half an apple with cheese and some walnuts
  • A small portion of healthy leftover meals
  • A cup of wholesome, home made soup
  • A Smoothie with green leafy veg, a little fruit and a seed mix

Make sure you're well hydrated too as you'll be less likely to drink so fast! And this leads me nicely to my next topic, which I know plenty about ....... Top Christmas Boozing Errors.
