Willpower can beat COVID-19

Well, I am here to share with you my experience of Covid -19. Being one of the victims of the virus, I feel the need to share my story with you.

It might have started earlier but for me it was 8th August. It felt like a normal day but definitely it was not. As a regular practice, I started my work. Well, my father in law was not feeling well since last 3 days but as per doctor’s advice it was nothing about.

Though, he got a fever of 99, so as a precaution, we decided to get him checked again. The samples for Covid – 19 tests were taken and we were waiting for results. After a while, I got the message that my Father- in-law and Mother-in-law both were positive. My Mother-in-law was asymptomatic but the news hit hard. It was now time to face the news we have been hearing this long.

I don’t think it’s the virus that might kill you as soon as you hear the news but it’s the mental situation. I felt the dark wave through my body giving me a chill. The first thing I was able to think was about the kids. We all live under one roof and kids were having some cold and cough. So, I with my kids and my maid went to the Covid center.

Well, I came back home and wanted some boost for my mental situation and called my boss first. Well, I don’t know about other companies but I can tell that the management of my company is very supportive. I explained them the whole situation and the first thing they asked me was to calm down and then motivated me to strengthen my will power.

The results from Covid Center came in by midafternoon and I was literally crying at the center after collecting it. I, my husband and my maid were negative but my kids were positive. It felt like I lost all my strength. I felt weak as I won’t be able to be near my kids when they need me the most. I forwarded the results to my management and I got the message, “Let’s take care of them”. The one thing I was blessed with was a supportive management. Special thanks to Kirit Palsana and Mayur Bavadiya.

The next day we thought of getting one more test to be assured. We started with home remedies like Kadha (mixture of herbs like tulsi, pepper, ginger and lemon juice boiled in hot water), drinking hot water, betadine gargles and other stuff. I even got a call from the founder (Gita Shingala) of my company to check on my health. It was friendly and most relieving conversation with her in this experience. I was highly supported by my relatives and I would like to thank them all for everything they have done for us.

We got the results from the 2nd day test. I and my husband both were tested positive. Instead of panicking, I felt relieved that I would be able to stay with my kids and take care of them. Though, there were some other problems like my Dad is at the age of 70, and doctor advised us to admit him in hospital but he was not ready for that. But at the end, it sorted with the help of a family member.

After 15 days, my family recovered. I would like to put out some things for you to be ready with things that might be helpful in these times:

1.)   Dettol big bottle

2.)   Sanitizer spray

3.)   Hand sanitizer

4.)   Disposable cups, plates, glasses

5.)   Pulse oximeter

6.)   Thermometer

7.)   Tissue paper

8.)   Dettol soap for bathing and hand wash

Also, I would recommend you guys to do the below things and might be helpful if you are going through the same things:

1.      Make yourself busy maybe by doing household chores or something that calms you down

2.      Take proper sleep and rest properly

3.      Involve your kids in the household work, let them get involved too

4.      Make the atmosphere of your home happy and relaxed

5.      Don’t talk about Covid at all, just keep checking your temperature and oxygen level

6.      Eat healthy foods that get digest easily

7.      Eat fruits and those fruits which are reach in Vitamin C (Kiwi is good source of Vitamin C and help to improve your immunity)

8.      Drink lot of water (if possible warm), do gargles with betadine syrup

9.      Very important don’t stress or panic, as stress stops making immunity and stops recovering

10.  Consult your doctor and take proper medicines suggested by him, you can do telephonic conversation with doctor

11.  Sanitize your house and things regularly, keep your house clean and tidy.

To conclude, I would say that your will power matters a lot. Keep your spirits high and it will help you to fight these tough times. I really appreciate the help I got from my company’s management, colleagues, relatives and friends. I am thankful for what I have in my life.

Stay healthy and stay safe and share your story if you have experienced the Covid – 19.
