WILLETT PUMPS – REPAIR OR REPLACE?

WILLETT PUMPS – REPAIR OR REPLACE?

A common dilemma a number of our customers have faced recently is wether to repair or replace their existing Willett Pumps.

Our recommendation at this point is to replace them, for a myriad of reasons as explained here.

Improved Energy Efficiency

Willett Pumps provide a far lower energy efficiency than newer models such as the EMS Ram Pumps. Newer pump models are equipped with advanced features and improved designs that significantly reduce energy consumption, leading to cost savings and a more sustainable operation. Upgrading to the latest EMS Pump models can contribute to a more eco-friendly and economically viable fluid handling system.

Extended Lead Times for Parts & Repairs

Older Willett pumps have gained a reputation for extended lead times for repairs, often causing unnecessary delays in pumping operations. Additionally, the cost associated with Willett pumps tends to be on the higher side with parts around double the price of those for newer pumps which poses continued long term financial challenges for those seeking reliable pumping solutions. Another notable concern is the obsolescence of parts, which can further exacerbate maintenance issues and increase overall operational costs. This combination of extended lead times, elevated costs, and obsolete parts underscores the challenges associated with relying on outdated Willett pumps.

More Complex Maintenance Requirements

Moreover, the maintenance requirements of older Willett Pumps can be more demanding. As pumps age, wear and tear increases, leading to more frequent breakdowns and repairs. The downtime associated with these maintenance activities can negatively impact overall productivity. Modern EMS Pump models feature enhanced durability and streamlined maintenance processes, reducing the frequency of service interruptions and associated costs.

Increased Performance of Newer Technology

Additionally, advancements in pump technology have led to improved performance standards. Older pumps may struggle to meet the efficiency levels and output capacities required by contemporary industrial processes. Upgrading to newer EMS Pump models can optimise fluid handling operations, ensuring they align with current industry standards and demands.

In conclusion, while older Willett Pumps may have served well in the past, their inefficiencies, including higher energy consumption, increased maintenance demands, and suboptimal performance, make a compelling case for considering an upgrade to the latest EMS pump models.

This transition not only addresses these challenges but also positions your fluid handling system for improved reliability and cost-effectiveness.
