Through an accidental find of a 1906 auction catalogue I did research on the life & times of Professor Doctor Wilhelm Alexander Freund (1833-1917), a famous German gynecologist and avid collector of old master paintings, predominantly by Dutch and Flemish painters of the 17th century.
