Wiley, a global leader in research and learning, has partnered with Pi School to contribute Earth science research materials for training the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Earth Virtual Expert (EVE), an AI system designed to transform access to Earth Observation research.
EVE, developed by Pi School for ESA’s Φ-lab with support from Imperative Space, refines large language models to answer scientific queries with sourced references. Wiley will provide access to Earth science publications, including journals from the American Geophysical Union (AGU) and books from its academic portfolio, supporting EVE’s capability to deliver accurate, citation-based responses.
The project will initially be tested with 200 ESA experts and external researchers, helping refine its performance. This collaboration aligns with Wiley’s commitment to responsible AI and transparent access to scientific knowledge.
