Wildscreen Festival 2024: Day 2 Recap

Wildscreen Festival 2024: Day 2 Recap

That’s a wrap on Day Two of the Festival! Today, delegates got stuck into Workshops including ‘How to build a camera with ARRI,’ a Masterclass on how Life On Our Planet was created, and more sessions with Decision-makers. Read on for some highlights.

Highlights

On The Edge: Nature Through a New Lens

A highlight of today was On The Edge: Nature Through a New Lens, our headline session at the Bristol Megascreen! Delegates gathered to celebrate the world premiere of four short films produced through the Edge of Nature: Short Film Fund. All of these films were created with fresh perspectives and innovative approaches, aiming to engage new audiences with nature and natural history storytelling. The films do an amazing job of this - from long-distance romance, to drag and comedy.

If you didn't catch today’s screening, all four short films will be available to watch on YouTube from tomorrow via the On The Edge YouTube channel.

Creative Masterclasses and Workshops

Today was jam-packed with workshops and masterclasses, blending technical skills with creative storytelling. This morning, workshop attendees covered how to build a camera with ARRI, working with the latest ALEXA cameras. Later in the day, wildlife filmmaker Roxy Furman led delegates in a workshop on creating impactful content for social media.

Delegates also delved into masterclasses on macro, GSS and Gimbal, as well as flocking to the Bristol Megascreen for an insight into how Silverback and Industrial Light & Magic produced Life On Our Planet.

Decision-makers share cutting-edge insights

Today saw executives and commissioners from Albatross World Sales, TVF, ITV Studios, 3Box Media, ARTE France, Off The Fence, and the BBC share their insights on the international marketplace and what content they are currently looking for. Distributors discussed how they can support producers in shaping projects’ international appeal, brokering co-production agreements, and generating revenue over the long term.

Meanwhile, Jack Bootle and Sreya Biswas shared their interest in commissioning retrospective stories and building new programme brands. Read more in Broadcast.
