Wildix WebRTC... Nailed it!
Ok people I have a little story to tell you. It starts with a snow storm, some broken shear pins and ends with #Wildix WebRTC possibly saving my life!
If you know me then you know I am always looking for real ways to illustrate the value of a true Unified Communications solution. Most often I am looking for applications that people could benefit from in terms of collaborating with coworkers. However, I think I often stop at the point of looking for how things work when you might be at home for the weekend preparing for a snow storm.
So of course I am getting prepared by checking my snowblower and making sure I will be ready. Upon full inspection, I come to find out that my shear pins are missing. Ok not a good situation. Anyone who grew up in the Northeast would totally know exactly what to do. Well not me. I just moved here from LA a couple of years ago. Here's where #Wildix comes in.
I quickly pull out my mobile phone and look to see if one of my coworkers, Steve from Boston, is available. He initially doesn't answer his phone so I send him a chat message using my Wildix collaboration android app. Turns out upon getting a notification on his cell phone, he messages me back within 5 minutes. I explain the situation and after doing a little triage he asks me to turn on my video on my mobile and show him what I was looking at. Wow, it was great because I was really able to show him exactly what I was dealing with. He actually needed a closer look so he asked me to send him a photo of the serial number so he could look it up on the web. So via my Wildix mobile app I sent him the image I had just taken.
As he was looking up the model number over the web I quickly went inside, put my headset on and moved the caller over to My Wildix desktop Collaboration. Steve had no idea that I had just done that. Now I'm on my PC and I turn on screen share. Now we are both looking at my screen and together looking on the web for the correct size shear pins. Wow I thought, this was so cool all of the cool tools I had at my fingertips and I never had to leave the call or download anything. It was truly a smooth process from one step to the next. As we found the correct shear pins I now was able to track down the closest place to purchase the goods. Next stop...
So off I went. I thanked Steve for his help and said to him, isn't this so cool. Our technology allowed you to see what I was seeing and together solve my problem. I wonder how I would have solved this puzzle just 3 short years ago. before I was working at Wildix. Had I not been able to fix the snowblower on this day, I might have had a heart attack shoveling a foot of wet snow. Thanks Steve and thanks Wildix!
