Wild Fires and Smoke in Your Home
The air is filled with smoke from the wildfires and can easily invade your home. Here are some ways to help alleviate the issue.
Air conditioners and Wildfire Smoke
Make sure to set your air conditioner to recirculate air so as to not bring in smoky air from the outside, and make sure the filter is clean. Making sure your car air conditioning is on recirculate too will help in the car. If your home air conditioner is a window unit, make sure it is properly sealed and the filter is clean.
Filters for the Wildfire Season
A suggestion is to replace your normal filters with MERV 13 Filters. These are relatively inexpensive. You only needs these in your HVAC system during a smoke event, not all the time.
Air Purifiers for Smoke from Wildfires
There are “non-ozone” producing air purifiers (HEPA) that will create a cleaner air room in the home
Keep your doors and windows closed as much as possible. Seal any leaks with weather stripping, sealant caulk and door sweeps.
