Wild About Wildfox Restaurant, a Hidden Gem in Marin

If you are looking for a great date night restaurant with elegance and an exquisite menu, look no further than Wildfox Restaurant in Novato, California. Whether you are on your first date, or 50th, it's a total gem in Marin. I had the chance to experience this restaurant for the first time last week, and I said to myself, "Why haven't I heard of this restaurant before."

You get the sense that you are in a rustic lodge because of the indoor and outdoor fireplaces, elegant lighting and exposed brick wall and impressive wooden beams, -that's just the atmosphere. And, then there's the amazing food. I found out from the owner, Debbie Coenen, that 99% of Wildfox's menu is made completely from scratch. Even the English Toffee malt ice cream is homemade which is my all-time fav, not just because of the 100% cream-base, but also the toffee throughout is made in house.

For dinner, my guest and I started off sharing a few small plates of risotto balls. You have try these because the Fontina cheese filling oozed out deliciously. I also had the Ginger Chicken and Corn Pot Stickers with Sesame Soy Dipping Sauce. They were by far better than any pot sticker I've had at a Chinese restaurant! And, moving on to the entree, my guest had the red wine-braised short ribs over sour cream mashed potatoes and roasted root veggies. So full of flavor and so tender, it just fell apart. I chose the seared Ahi tuna steak it came with spicy wasabi whipped potatoes and crunchy Asian slaw and peanut sauce, which I'm still dreaming about.
