The Wild Swings: Moving on from iDecorama
Summing up the last two years of my startup life into one post is challenging. So I’ll leave that for some other time. Leaving a company you founded is not an easy topic to talk about, especially when much has been invested emotionally & financially. Quitting is sometimes really hard to do but it also leads to exciting new opportunities and one has got to embrace it as an entrepreneur.
As of March 2018, my investors at iDecorama and I have mutually & amicably parted ways for me to explore new areas of business interest.
We took the company to new heights, building a one of its kind 360 degree media brand offering solutions in digital, print & events space in architecture & design in India. Two years of building & running iDecorama with seasoned entrepreneurs has given me skills I’d never have attained otherwise. The experience I gained in execution, implementation & business aesthetics is invaluable. I have emerged much stronger and wiser and wouldn’t change a single part of that experience for anything.
I can never stop creating and have already started to fiddle with some new white spaces. Immediately, I’ll be working on some personal passion projects in the arts & music space, while I get the planning for my next company going. If it sticks you’ll hear about it. If not, you’ll probably still hear about it.
Thanks to everyone who believed in me and supported me in building iDecorama from the go. Specifically: My incredible investors Mr. Manish Gandhi & Mr. Sumit Gandhi — founders of Asia’s largest and world’s third largest architecture and design exhibition ACETECH and the parent company ABEC holding 10–12% market share in the exhibitions & expos market in India, my investors from PosterGully who’ve helped me with umpteen moments of mentorship and several of my colleagues who have supported my dream in the last two years; I’d never have gotten as far as I did without all of your belief, support, hard work, and encouragement and I can’t put into words how much that will always mean to me.
