Wild Elephant Claims Morning Walker's Life

In a heartbreaking incident on December 20, a wild elephant attack claimed the life of Pathal Rajbanshi, a 55-year-old office assistant at Haldibari rural municipality-2 in the eastern district of Jhapa.

According to Dhundiraj Giri, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, contact with Rajbanshi was lost during his morning walk. After he failed to return home, concerned family members initiated a search, only to find him lifeless in a drain near his house.

An investigation, led by a team from the District Forest Division Office and the police, is underway. Rajbanshi's body has been transported to the Mechi Provincial Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

This unfortunate incident follows two similar fatalities in November. Dhan Bahadur Wan, forest guard of a community forest, Haldibari and Padam Lal Tamang of Beldangi Camp, Damak lost their lives in wild elephant attacks.
