WiFi Knowledge Summit 4.0
The 4th WiFi Knowledge Summit, held at the Victor Menezes Convention Centre (VMCC) in IIT-Bombay on Sept 14-15, brought together WiFi industry professionals, telecom service providers, system integrators and faculty, students & IT/Networking staff from academic institutions to discuss and deliberate upon different aspects of WiFi. The Summit was attended by nearly 150 delegates, with participants traveling from all over India.
On Day 1, people started streaming in an hour before the scheduled start time and the hall was filled to capacity by the time Dr. Srikanth took the stage for the inaugural talk. The first day was devoted to exploring use cases, technical challenges, architectural choices and best practices for Campus WiFi. A panel discussion on the need for a pan-India Campus WiFi network, riding on backbone connectivity provided by the National Knowledge Network (NKN) brought the day’s proceedings to a very interesting end.
Day 2 started off slowly, thanks to the inclement weather but things kicked into high gear as the proceedings got underway. With talks that covered topics ranging from rural WiFi all the way up to WiFi at 36000 ft (aka Aircraft WiFi), it turned out be a very engrossing day for the audience. The Summit ended with a lively exchange of views on Smart City WiFi.
