Making independent films is tough: finding funding, support, collaborators and people willing to take a risk on creativity. It's a miracle that indie films ever get made, and that's why film festivals created by and for independent filmmakers are so valuable – and why being voted on to this year's BIFA longlist is so awesome for Brightest Films.
About My Brief Eternity: Ar Awyr Le
The film was developed, produced and directed by Brightest Films Creative Director Clare Sturges in association with Maggie's and University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Clare has been recognised twice by BAFTA Cymru for her producing and directing: with the BAFTA Cymru Short Film Award 2016 and the BAFTA Cymru Breakthrough Award 2015. Clare said:
"Cancer affects so many people, and so many struggle to develop a sense of mortality powerful enough to reconcile diagnosis and prognosis. Osi Rhys Osmond was one of the rare few whose clear notions of life and death gave him and those dear to him the strength to accept what may have seemed a hopeless situation."
